This month’s primary scripture

Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God. D&C 88:119

We are grateful to the Goddard family for sharing their talents with us and we have their posters, listing the themes and primary scriptures, up in our home each month.  You will want to visit their website at www.ldsgreats.com.  Good people doing good things and always sharing so abundantly!  Thanks!

Here is a link to a great article by Daryl Hoole, one of my new favorite homemakers (thanks Ingrid for sharing).  Her article adds great insight to this month’s primary scripture.  http://www.theartofhomemaking.com/gospelcenteredhome.htm

Home school tip: We use these scriptures and many others for our daily copy work.  Each of the kids have their own scripture binders that they use for daily family scripture study, getting gum from the scripture gum jar for recitation and for their copy work.  There are alot of things in those binders… maybe a topic for another day’s post!

Great Website

Check out www.nutritiondata.com for great resources on knowing what it is you are eating. I’m focusing on calories, but it has TONS of other info as well!

Sunday Centers

A friend of mine in our ward, shared this idea with me and I thought I would pass it along.  Their family organizes “Sunday Centers” each Sabbath to give their kids positive activities to do.  They’ve been doing it for years and now her teenage daughters run them completely.  We started doing the “Sunday Centers” and are kids have been asking if we could “please” do them on more days than just Sundays.   … continue reading this entry.

Flylady.net

halloween-041My shiny sink!  I had to take a photo because it only looks like this for a quick second about once a week…. and to recommend one of my favorite websites: www.flylady.net.  Check it out as well as the book, Sink Reflections.  I’m a fan of flylady’s methods and ideas although I’m usually a failure at applying them.  Leave me a comment with your favorite home organization, cleaning or mom in general website! (then go shine your sink-it feels soooo good!)

Sack Lunch Ideas

Every day I make two sack lunches-one for Ben and one for Brig.  Writing the notes are my favorite part!  Last night my ward had an enrichment night on sack lunch ideas.  I thought that I would share the notes from the meeting.

A few things to consider…

  • What can they open? (Paper bag, lunchbox, Tupperware?, Thermos?)
  • What can they eat? (Choking hazard? Allergies?)
  • Are you looking for… health? Convenience? Saving money?

Presentation

  • Smaller can be easier to eat; less intimidating (Can I eat that WHOLE apple?)
  • Orange cut up “soccer mom” style
  • Ants on a log: celery, peanut butter, raisins
  • Carrot curls (after the peel comes off, keep peeling and pile the peels into a baggie-great option for braces)
  • Peanut butter in apple core
  • Cut out sandwich with cookie cutter (special occasions) … continue reading this entry.

Believe It, Become It

Last week I hosted the yearly reunion for American Mothers, Inc. of Utah County.  We had nearly 50 women gathered in my backyard enjoying a bonfire, s’mores, friendship and self-improvement.  Our sponsor and guest speaker was nationally acclaimed, Paula Fellingham.  She was gracious enough to share, with all who attended, her notes on her amazing presentation!  Her three main points came from her book, BELIEVE IT BECOME IT.

Three powerful beliefs that can change your life:

1. BELIEF: I CAN CREATE POSITIVE CHANGE IN MY LIFE

2. BELIEF: I AM JOYFUL AND CONFIDENT

3. BELIEF: I BECOME MY IDEAL SELF BY ACTING “AS IF”

Here I am with Paula.

Here is a link to Paula’s presentation given to AMI of Utah County.  She encouraged us to share the message everywhere and with everyone… so I thought I would blog her message to the world!  Enjoy, -Karmel
