Piano Recital 2007

In Home Education, Kids on November 26, 2007 at 12:59 pm

Ben and Abby just performed at their Suzuki Piano Recital.  Both of them now playing hands together.  At our house… we call recitals “gigs”.  Our kids want to be just like their Dado.  They both played beautifully!

Tree House Sack Lunches

In Home Education, Homestead Happiness, Kids on November 26, 2007 at 12:55 pm

Ben created a basket rope system for getting “very important things” into his tree house.  When I saw his creativity… I thought he needed something for the basket besides rocks and sticks.  So I made the kids sack lunches for the tree house.  Who would have known that such a simple thing could make three kids so excited and giggly and spend so much time together in their tree house munching on their goodies.

The “Sand Pit”

In Homestead Happiness on November 21, 2007 at 3:38 am

When we moved to our new home last Spring, Brigham wanted more than a sand box. He envisioned a “Sand Pit”. It took 3 truckloads of sand to fill in the hole that was dug and it could still use another to fill it up completely. The kids (and neighbor kids) are daily in digging heaven!

Our Orchard

In Homestead Happiness on November 21, 2007 at 3:30 am

Part of our new one acre little homestead is an old orchard filled with 3 types of apples, cherries, peaches, pears, apricots, plums, walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts. We had so much fun this past season of harvest trying to figure out what to do with all of our fruit and nuts! Our yard is on the ditch irrigation system, so every 12 days we get on our rubber boots, set the flood gates in place and watch as the water comes rushing towards our property and then creates a 1 acre splash pool. The kids put on their bathing suits and think it’s great! That should explain for you why it looks like Thayne is picking apples in a pool of water.

Bananas and Ice Cream

In Extended Family on November 21, 2007 at 3:19 am

We said goodbye to Grandpa Dave about 10 days before Brig Jr. arrived. My parents entered into retirement and were able to take over his full time care. We think about him though every time we eat bananas and ice cream. The kids bring him up often and have good memories about “when Granpa Dave lived with us”. Serving him taught us so much and was a positive gift we will always be grateful for.

Grandma Diny taught Abby how to make these hats while she was here helping with Brig Jr.  Abby made both hers and her doll’s.

February AMI Chapter Meeting, Celebrating Motherhood!

In Abby, Uncategorized on November 20, 2007 at 11:58 pm

For our February 2008 Chapter meeting, we brought our daughters to enjoy a discussion on what we love about being mothers!

Abby was so darling about going to her first “American Mommies” meeting.  I made her a simple invitation that she carried around with her for days.  She insisted on bring her baby so that she could show everyone that she was a mommy too.

Ben thought he had reached the climax of childhood jumping off the diving board at swim lessons this past summer!

Book Buddies

In Family Times, Kids on November 20, 2007 at 11:29 pm

This was last Saturday morning.  Ben decided he wanted to read… and one by one the kids all joined him on the couch (ok, so I added in the little guy for the photo).  It was a moment that I was grateful we didn’t have a TV, so that Saturday morning cartoons didn’t rob us of this great book buddies opportunity.  We’re so lucky to have such great kids!

Home, Home on the range…

Where the deer and the Antelope (elk) play.

We have a lot of deer who call our yard home!  Each morning (almost every morning), they are grazing in our backyard.  Their favorite resting place is to gather beneath our willow tree.  There is a group of five that seem to be the regular backyard crowd.   We sure enjoy watching them.  One time a herd of elk passed through.

The many faces of Ben!

When I was taking photos of Ben, he much preferred his funny faces to my boring requests for nice smiles.  Here they are…
